The first pipeline managed by Gasunie runs from Terneuzen to Sluiskil in Zeelandic Flanders. Spanning a length of 12 kilometres, the pipeline links up Dow Benelux, Yara and ICL-IP facilities. The hydrogen released as a residual product at Dow is then used as a raw material by the other two companies, meaning it is put to use efficiently, while also saving the considerable energy that would otherwise have been needed to produce and transport the hydrogen. Carbon emissions are also reduced. Companies and government bodies made the first agreements in March 2016, and the pipeline was commissioned in late 2018.
